As I was searching the net for the term paper, I came upon 2 new uses for a smart phone, one good and one criminal.
The criminal use is placing a smart phone near a keyboard and using the smartphone’s accelerometer and orientation sensor to record each vibration made by a keyboard stroke to steal password, etc. While this technology is in it’s infancy, it shows the ever changing ways to steal information.
A good use of smartphones it to equip each one with detection devices to detect things like radiation, chemicals and possibly viruses. Using the GPS on hundreds of smartphones, an outbreak can be detected an located quickly. Of course, someone will complain that this is a violation of their privacy, so it’s doubtful that it will ever be enacted by the general public in the near future.
