GSM Hacking

At the Chaos Computer Club Congress in Berlin, two researchers demonstrated how to intercept GSM traffic from cellphone calls and texts. They used a 15 dollar prepaid phone and a laptop with a 2 TB rainbow table to find, intercept, and decrypt the traffic from a target cellphone. Similar devices made for government officials have been known to sell for upwards of $50.000. the article continues to say modern cell phones are not safe from this either for they keep voice and sms on gsm and web browsing on 3g.
